Beech Tree

This impressive, native tree has a broad crown and smooth grey-green bark. The green leaves are an oval shape with wavy edges, slightly fringed with downy hair when young. The foliage turns a rich coppery- gold in autumn which makes a wonderful contrast to the other evergreen foliage in the garden . Nuts are produced in autumn. This tree will suit being planted in most fertile, well drained soil including chalk but will not tolerate heavy clay.
